Is Melanotan 2 Everything You Need?

Melanotan 2 (MT2), dubbed the “barbie drug,” has caused quite a stir in the tanning industry. Melanotan 2 has become somewhat of an internet phenomenon due to its tanning properties, but why?

You may or may not have heard of Melanotan 2, but it has been in circulation for quite some time. Some claim that it allows you to achieve a sunless tan,’ which has linked to a lower risk of skin cancer by shielding you from harmful UV rays. It is primarily distributed through various online businesses and has grown in popularity among bodybuilders, salon users, and the general public. There are labs worldwide that create MT2, including Australia, China, and the United States of America, to name a few, and it appears that more and more people are warming to the idea.

As previously stated, MT2 can be found and purchased from various suppliers all over the internet. It is typically packaged in 10mg glass vials that have been vacuum-sealed by the laboratories in which it was created. These are then purchased by various companies/people all over the internet and sold to customers looking for a sunless tan.’

Melanotan 2 was dubbed the “sunless tan” because it does not require exposure to sunlight. It can be ‘activated’ by spending a few hours under a sunbed to start the process. You continue the administration course to obtain the tan, and by topping up your MT2 levels regularly, you can achieve the tan or colour you desire.

Many people jumped at the chance to use Melanotan 2 and scoured the internet for a steady supply. Melanotan 2 can be used in various ways, but the most popular appears to be through a ‘tanning injection.’ This entails combining the MT2 with bacteriostatic water in the provided vacuum-sealed vial, then extracting a portion of the mixture with a syringe. The needle is then implanted into the fat tissues, such as the abdomen, and also the combination is injected. It is discovered to be the most popular method people use because it is absorbed by the body faster, resulting in more noticeable results sooner.

Another popular method is to pre-mix the vial with bacteriostatic water and place the mixture in a nasal spray bottle. People who dislike the idea of using a syringe have used this method, which provides a simple alternative.

The implant version and pill form are two methods that are still in development and being studied in clinical trials. These methods are still being researched in various laboratories around the world and have not yet been mass-produced.

So, where did Melanotan 2 originate?

It was first synthesised at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Arizona in the United States (UAC). The scientists who led the trials hoped to discover a new method of combating skin cancer and lowering the number of people harmed by UV light. These trials began in the early 1990s when scientists realised that by incorporating their knowledge of the chemicals cells in the human body, they could achieve the desired results by creating a synthetic version of the body’s found insulin alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (a-MSH) naturally.

After extensive research and a lot of time, you’re probably irritated! But, nevertheless, they achieved their goal and created what is now known as Melanotan 2.

Not only was MT2 developed to combat skin cancer, but it also developed to assist very fair-skinned people, such as those with red hair and freckles on very light skin, albinism, and so on. People with very fair skin tend to burn more quickly in the sun, so their risk of developing skin cancer is higher. The scientists believed that by using MT2, they could help to reduce that risk and lower the stakes for everyone.

Melanotan 2 accelerates the organic sun tan practice known as melanin synthesis. Mixing Melanotan involves interacting with the body’s skin cells, known as Melanocytes, allowing the skin cells to produce more melanin, its natural pigment. By speeding up this process, the skin can have an all-over body tan more quickly, protecting the skin much more when exposed to sunlight.

There were some side effects during the trials, including mild nausea, loss of appetite, and men experiencing spontaneous penile erections. However, a study published in 2000 concluded that men with erectile dysfunction who used MT2 were able to achieve an erection; the UAC stated: “that Melanotan II is a powerful originator of penile erection in males with sexual dysfunction.”

So, what’s the big deal about Melanotan 2? I’m not sure if I’ll be jumping on the bandwagon just yet, but it appears that many people have, but then again, look what happened when fake liquid tan came out, there was a feeding frenzy of the new bronze age!
